Electric Castle is loved by the festival goers for its unique and immersive day & night experience, awarded by the music festival industry for its relentless quality and appreciated by artists.

Taking place next to the iconic 15th-century Bánffy Castle, in the pristine nature of Transylvania, Electric Castle surprises at every edition with a creative lineup, touching a diversity of genres, with new media installations & performances, and disruptive talks. Breathtaking scenery and historical surroundings create an out of the ordinary way of living and feeling, which can’t be matched by other experiences.

Round the clock entertainment, artistic performances, immersive installations, stand-up comedy, fashion & fair area, carefully selected food & drinks vendors and a variety of daytime activities to choose from keeps everyone busy and excited day in and day out.

During its nine years of existence, Electric Castle has hosted internationally acclaimed music artists such as Florence + The Machine, Jessie J, Skrillex, The Prodigy, Die Antwoord, deadmau5, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Bring Me The Horizon.

CAMPING

EC has the largest festival camping in Romania. For five days, over 15,000 people choose to live there. The campsite is a festival within a festival. In addition to the structures located there, participants have access to cafes, supermarkets and live music scenes.

BANFFY CASTLE

With breathtaking sights and amazing surroundings, the century old Bánffy Castle is the home of Electric Castle. As a premiere for the festival, the castle opened its doors to the public during the 5th edition of Electric Castle, hosting an array of exhibitions and interactive art installations.

Every year we try to bring our contribution to the restauration of one of Romania’s forgotten landmarks.

Alongside local authorities we continued our long term vision of investing in the Castle and village infrastructure, creating new jobs opportunities for the community and bolstering local economy. After the successful restoration of the castle’s roof thanks to generous donations, now we are focusing on reinforcing and consolidating the frame structure.

NEW MEDIA

2019 was the year the Castle turned into an art installation hosting our first internationally acclaimed new media artists. Here are some of them:

Every single detail of the festival bears a certain level of quality. Hundreds of people working in the festival have their eyes trained to spot and remediate anything that doesn't look right. We’re obsessed with quality.

Care for nature and heritage

Electric Castle is built with a focus on environment and sustainability. With each edition, a small city is being raised from scratch and our efforts are directed to reducing the festival’s plastic and carbon footprint. We are fully committed to supporting the restoration of Banffy Castle and the historical buildings surrounding it, preserving the cultural heritage and attracting more visitors.
